This lockdown might look like a dull and never-ending loop of the same routine. And many even look at it as a curse, as it is killing the glitter and charm we used to have before it in our fast-paced lives. But we also have plenty of time to escape from the tightly packed routine. Now we can find a lot of great things about ourselves in this infinite time. But the main obstacle is the inconsistent bursts of productivity. And this blog is here to help you maintain it. But keep in mind that it is not necessary that you will be doing something 24 hours a day. It is good to just relax and enjoy the moment till you can. Let’s hop in on the following points:

The 90/90/1 rule:

Make a to-do list the day before, and write it down. This way you will stay organized. And ticking off the chores from the list will give you a sense of accomplishment. Here comes the 90/90/1 rule. I got to know of this rule from Robin Sharma, and it works in the best way to enhance productivity. According to it, for 90 days, you should spend the first 90 minutes of your day on one single opportunity that moves the needle in your respective field. Research shows that we have the most focus, energy and will power at the start of the day. Be sure not to spend this time on activities like watching TV, or checking notifications. Rather do something good like morning exercise, or setting your bed or a bit of research related to your daily chores that you’ve put in the list.

Set smart goals:

Smart goals can be the key to stay productive in the longer run. Don’t set any unapproachable goals because it can make you feel less efficient. Track the time you spend on each task. In this way, when you have set goals and are tracking time, you won’t be spending it on unnecessary activities. Getting rid of the unimportant activities is like getting rid of extra weight while hiking. You’ll work faster, better and most importantly for a longer time. Divide your day for work, hobbies and for leisure activities. In this way, you’ll have more flexibility in your day plan. Your goals can be to take up a new hobby or brush of the old ones.

Result-oriented activities:

Many activities we do are not urgent and don’t have a huge impact. Almost 80% of our results come from 20% of our actions in our daily routine. You have to find these 20% of activities and spend your majority time on these. This will help you in better management of time and in turn make your day a well spent one. In these times of lockdown, we can be indulged in tasks that can be less result oriented. Like watching videos of cats fighting on Instagram, or spending time reading the comments of two random people on social media. So, make sure to avoid such activities and prefer spending time on research or more of the goals you have enlisted on your to-do list. These can include exercise and all the physical activities too that will keep you active. An active mind can be a productive one.

Complete focus:

The environment in which you will be working has a direct impact on you. An addiction to distraction can be a death to your productivity. And during this lockdown, it can be a real challenge to get a complete distraction-proof environment as most of the time is spent in our houses. Make a workstation, this can be any corner of your house; simply remove the distractions like your phone or even other people around you. You can dedicate certain times of the day to only work. And in that time no distracting objects can be around. Research shows that we spend 2.1 hours daily in distraction and it takes about 21 mins to regain our focus. So, the notifications and the buzzing phone can be the culprit in this situation. In the time you keep for work, go invisible from social media. And on some days of the week be unapproachable. Hustle only on your work.

Minimalism:

Mostly this term is used in the field of design. And it means to have lots of white space. If you look at artists, they don’t jumble their work or make it look congested on the canvas. That’s why it looks appealing to the eyes. Basically, the secret to genius is not complexity, it is simplicity. What I mean is, be world-class at a few things. Don’t try to multitask at one time. Be truly focused on a few things. In this way, you will be able to master certain skills effectively. And you will stay productive in a longer run during this time. Be sure that you read one or two e-books rather than 20, take one course and focus on it rather than taking 5 courses. Focus is the key here, so the more focused you stay on one thing, the more productive you can be.

Peer Group:

Did you know that subconsciously we mimic the behavior of the people we spend the most time with? Our close circle can have a great impact on the things we do. So surround yourself with the people who are playing at the level you want to be playing at. Populate your circle with high performers and you’ll be one of the high performers too. Just being around these people will allow you to adopt their energy and boost your productivity. These people can be the uplifting element of your day. Whenever you feel like giving up on the routine you’ve set for yourself the people around you will be the motivating factor. You’ll learn from them and will be able to implement their work and achieve more from one day. During lockdown, we do not meet others but just communicating with them can help boost your work mood and in turn your productivity.

Conclusion:

Staying productive is something we all want these days. But every good thing requires our attention and effort. So, if you are dedicated to achieving something good from this pandemic and the lockdown follow the points above. Stay focused, surround yourself with positive energy and people and set goals to achieve them. Also remember that you do not have to stay productive 24/7. Some leisure time is also necessary for your mind and body. With a perfect balance in your productivity and all the games and fun, this lockdown can be spent in a good way after all.
